Taylor Alison Swift, winner of 12 Grammy Awards. A pop star with millions of fans from Turkey and other countries. Recently, this star threatened a Florida student with a lawsuit through her lawyers. The reason is similar to the incident involving Elon Musk in 2022. Here are the details…
Taylor Swift threatened to sue a student who tracked her jet
This incident resembles an account that tracked Elon Musk’s jet, similar to the ElonJet scandal that occurred in late 2022. In fact, the student threatened by Swift’s team is the same person who managed that account. 21-year-old Jack Sweeney runs various social media pages that record takeoffs and landings of planes owned by billionaires, politicians, and pop stars.
Taylor Swift’s lawyers wrote to Sweeney that if he did not stop publishing details of her jet’s whereabouts, the pop star would have “no choice but to pursue all legal avenues.” This indicates that Taylor Swift’s side will resort to legal action.
The letter stated that Sweeney’s actions caused “direct and irreparable harm” to Swift and her family, as well as “emotional and physical distress” and increased “constant fear for her personal safety.” It’s worth noting that Swift has had numerous followers and harassers throughout her career. Just last month, a man was arrested for repeatedly following her to her home.
The legal team wrote, “While this may be a game or a path you hope will bring you wealth or fame, for our client, it is a matter of life and death.” The letter also added that there was “no legitimate interest or public need” for this information other than “stalking and harassment.”
The owner of the account, Sweeney, told The Washington Post that this was an attempt to scare him from sharing public data and stated that he received location information for all jet tracking accounts from the Federal Aviation Administration and voluntary hobbyists.
Referring to an incident where Swift’s team requested $50,000 from Elon Musk to shut down the ElonJet account, the team mentioned that he is known for ignoring the personal safety of others in exchange for public interest and/or financial gain demands. Sweeney stated that he has lawyers for any legal action.
